Hailing from the atmospheric landscapes of Iceland, Gísli Gunnarsson is a visionary composer and multi-instrumentalist whose artistry transcends boundaries. Remaining rooted in modern classical, his music draws inspiration from various other genres such as post-rock, black metal, and shoegaze. Combining orchestral elements with metal instrumentation and ethereal vocals, Gísli infuses his work with a unique style of storytelling, combining these elements to create a distinctive sound that defies the confines of genres. Blending this diverse group of influences to transport listeners through realms both otherworldly and intimately familiar.
Gísli has collaborated extensively with artists spanning a wide range of backgrounds and has had the privilege to work with some of his biggest musical inspirations. His latest album “Mementos” (2023) is a collaborative project where every track features a poignant memento, taking the listener on an emotional journey, encapsulating the essence of this unique collaboration between friends. Featuring Georg Holm of Sigur Rós, Mat McNerney of Hexvessel/Grave Pleasures, Laufey Soffía of Kælan Mikla and many more. Mementos has been very well received since its release with growing listeners worldwide and features a limited edition release of a gatefold double vinyl, as well as getting coverage on Bandcamps ‘New & Notable’ section.

Following Mementos, Gísli got the opportunity to work with one of his biggest musical influences, Alcest. Culminating in latest release "Wings of Glass” (2024) and features the vocals and drum performance of Alcests Neige and Winterhalter. Additionally Gísli had the honor of providing choral vocals, as well as a wide range of arrangements and production elements for Alcests latest album "Les Chants de l'Aurore" (2024)
Gísli is fully independent, handling all writing, production and mixing, as well as self-releasing and promoting all his work himself. Through his efforts he has amassed 20k+ monthly listeners on Spotify, with his track Birds of Paradise reaching 1m+ plays. In addition to his solo work, Gísli was also member of Season of Mist signed band Vévaki, where he handled all arranging, production and mixing.
